Today, talking about sustainable agriculture means going beyond the simple reduction of phytosanitary products. It means designing production systems that are more environmentally friendly, but also less energy-intensive, thanks to technological solutions capable of optimizing water consumption, flow rates and distribution through high-performance electropumps.
Energy efficiency is as decisive a parameter as agronomic quality. Every plant choice, from the water capture system to micro-irrigation, contributes to determining its real operational sustainability.

Zero-residue strawberries in Basilicata: an exemplary cas

A concrete example comes from a recent intervention carried out by FB together with our commercial contact Vincenzo Libraro in Basilicata, at a large strawberry farm in a greenhouse covering 60 hectares: an imposing operation, organized to work on important volumes and with very high production standards.

The cultivation is soilless: the plants do not grow in the ground, but in coconut fiber bags, an inert substrate that naturally limits the development of parasites and pathogens.

This reduces the need for phytosanitary treatments upstream, allowing the company to adopt a “zero-residue” agronomic technique, aimed at eliminating traces of chemical substances in the final product.

The cultivation is managed in a very advanced way: a monitoring system continuously analyzes the crop's water and nutritional needs, and then feeds a drip micro-irrigation system that distributes water and nutrients locally, only where they are needed and without waste.

This approach makes it possible to keep both the agronomic yield and the efficiency of the entire system under control, in a large-scale agricultural context with high technological content.
